How do Flowers Make you Feel....

| No TrackBacks

100_4079.JPGFlowers are associated with a feel good factor, as they have
healing powers. Witness the effect they have on you when you
walk into a room full of flowers. You'll surely be swept
away by the lovely sight and the fresh aroma. Wondering,
where are the worries you walked in with, well, they are up
in the air due to these healers. No wonder they make for a
wonderful gift option. See the glint in the eyes of the
recievers as they gently adore and caress the flowers.

You probably never told anyone about the way getting
flowers make you feel, though, because you were afraid
people would laugh at you or think you were, um, just a
little bit weird when it comes to flowers. Well, you'll be
happy to learn that researchers at Rutgers University,
however, would agree with about the way flowers effect
your mood. They did a ten-month study on the link between
receiving flowers and moods. And what they found could be
the foundation of a whole new mood therapy: flowers
therapy.

Because the researchers found that receiving flowers has
an instant effect on a person's mood. People getting
flowers immediately smiled and got excited--and this
reaction was true for all age groups, young and old. They
also found that people were less tense and depressed after
getting flowers. Flowers, they found, just made people feel
more optimistic and positive.

Hence now you have a scientific backing to what was the
common observation about the flowers. The presence of
flowers also affects productivity as it is generally seen to
reduce stress levels and make for a vibrant atmosphere. Take
care of the flowers in order to make them last longer.

How do you keep flowers fresh and make them last? First,
keep them in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight and far
from appliances like televisions and computers that give off
heat. Secondly, mix the flower food with water exactly as
the instructions say. Next, remove any leaves below the
waterline in your vase. Also, it's a good idea to re-cut the
stems of the flowers to help increase water uptake. Finally,
always remove any flowers or leaves when they die so that
the remaining flowers keep fresh and look great.

They work great, have a screen system, so no mosquitos or nasty little bugs, and they can be custom painted (by me, Jean@ The Bloom Closet! This one has cute frogs and bees, its been primed and sealed 12 times so it is very protected from the elements and anything you like can be painted , within reason, at least! Oasis Garden is a great shop, so check them out for some great fresh and local produce, and rain barrels of course....

1223521460_000_0153.jpg pro-flower-funeral-cross-0014-300x224.jpgFrom my friend Clay down at McAdams Floral in Victoria TX comes this sad story of another Proflowers funeral tribute gone wrong.

Clay said…”When I was making my usual Sunday funeral home deliveries, I happen to see this opened box in an office area. I thought it was for the service I was delivering for on Sunday, but it turns out it was delivered at 10:30 Friday for a 10am service. The customer was calling the funeral home on Friday morning to ask if they got it….she said it should have been delivered on Thursday for the viewing. I can only guess that she ordered it sometime Wednesday, and she was told it was to be delivered next day. Anyway, the funeral home told the family about it later on Friday and they said that they would come by and pick it up…Sunday and it is still there.”

When will people learn?  This poor lady from West Bend WI, paid over $200.00 including shipping and her tribute did not even make it in time for the services.  She would have gotten a much better presentation, not to mention better service from a local florist.  Proflowers relies on Fed/Ex and UPS for delivery of their products in most cases.  Sadly these companies do not understand nor care about the timing issues faced by local florists every day.

By the way, the fine print on this item, says “Easel not included”… most funeral homes do NOT have extra easels, and in this case the funeral home did not, even if the items had made it in time for the service.

Oh, and if any flowers fall out durring shipping, “Just insert them where they make the most sense" is what is written on the instruction sheet.

Order from The Bloom Closet, a real local florist in Martinez, GA. And even though our cross is using different flowers, if we did the all rose cross with apidstra leaves and ruscus on a easel, it would be $150.00.
